Recognitions

Zarmed University operates under the authorization of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education of Uzbekistan. However, it is not currently listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS) and therefore not recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC), India. Without WDOMS listing, graduates cannot appear for FMGE/NExT. Prospective students—especially from India—should treat this as a critical risk factor.

MBBS Education

The university offers a 6-year MBBS program in English, covering pre-clinical sciences (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry) and clinical disciplines (Medicine, Surgery, Pediatrics, etc.), followed by a compulsory internship. The curriculum follows Uzbek national standards, with aspirations toward international alignment. Teaching includes lectures, labs, and planned hospital exposure, though clinical depth is still evolving due to the institution’s new status.

Faculties

Currently focused on the Faculty of Medicine, offering the General Medicine (MBBS) program. Instruction is delivered in English by qualified local faculty, with an emphasis on foundational knowledge. Plans for expansion into dentistry or pharmacy have been indicated but not yet implemented.

Clinical Facilities

Clinical training is conducted at Bukhara Regional Hospital and local clinics—providing exposure to general medicine, surgery, pediatrics, and OB/GYN. While patient volume is moderate compared to Tashkent hospitals, the smaller setting allows for closer supervision. Students should request documented proof of hospital affiliations during admission.

Students Facilities

Zarmed provides basic support for international students, including visa invitation letters, orientation, and administrative assistance in English. Dedicated FMGE/NExT coaching is not yet established. Peer networks and senior guidance are emerging as the student body grows.

Campus Facilities

The campus features modern classrooms, basic anatomy and simulation labs, Wi-Fi, and digital learning tools. Located in central Bukhara, it offers a peaceful, historic environment ideal for focused study. Hostel facilities are available nearby, with easy access to city amenities and transport.

  • Rooms typically in double or triple occupancy with beds, desks, wardrobes, and shared bathrooms/kitchens.
  • Common kitchens allow self-cooking—essential for vegetarian, halal, or custom diets (widely used by Indian students).
  • No compulsory mess system; students cook or eat at local cafeterias offering simple, affordable meals (vegetarian options available).
  • Hostels are within walking distance or short commute from campus and clinical sites.
  • Central library stocked with core medical textbooks (e.g., Gray’s Anatomy, Guyton, Harper’s), reference materials, and exam guides.
  • Quiet study zones and computer terminals support independent learning.
  • Digital resources are limited; physical collection is gradually expanding.
  • Extended hours during examination periods.
  • Librarians assist with book issuance and academic material access.
  • Bukhara is a safe, conservative, and tourist-friendly city with very low crime rates.
  • University hostels have controlled access, security personnel, and emergency protocols.
  • Local community is respectful and welcoming toward foreign students, especially those in medical programs.

Admission Related Information

Zarmed University offers two intakes per year: the main intake in September (Fall semester) and a secondary intake in February/March (Spring semester), subject to availability. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Follows a transparent, merit-based admission policy with no capitation fee (donation) and no entrance examination for international MBBS applicants.
